Hawk watch

Broad-winged hawk visited our Norfolk Island pine this morning around 11 a.m.

The pine is by the road in our front yard. This is the view from the backyard. Someday soon I will be looking back at this photo and saying, “Oh yeah, remember those old crank out windows and that asphalt roof?” We have some home improvements in the works.

The hawk knew we were watching, and the hawk was especially watching our dog.

Standing on one foot with the other tucked up.

Some people have told us we should cut down this tree because they are non-native, messy and they blow over pretty easily in storms. “A trash tree,” said one person. Although this one looks old enough that it has survived a few hurricanes.

But if we cut it down, where will the hawks perch??
